Our daughter, Lowenna, is one of the most contrary people I have ever come across. If I ask her to go upstairs and put some trousers on she will come back down in a skirt. If I ask her to get me her hairbrush she will come back with her toothbrush.
Unlike her older brother who’s sole aim is to please, she relishes in the fact that she is being awkward and the more awkward she can be the better. I’d like to say it’s a phase and she’ll grow out of it but she has been this way since she was a baby.

As parents, personally, we believe that there is a very fine line between discipline and knocking the character out a child. Clearly, this contrary trait is just part of her personality.
I’m guessing it’s the free Celtic soul in her and as much as it may wind us up we have learnt to accept and live with her quirky traits. We wouldn’t have her any other way.
Today I thought I’d put together just some of the reasons why we have been late for school because of something that happened to her in the morning which resulted in a full blown meltdown.
20 Reasons why…
She can’t find the red hair clip with the white spots on it
The dog looked at her funny
Her sock is twisted
It’s too cold outside
It’s too hot outside
Her tie is wonky
She didn’t want to wear clean knickers
I wouldn’t let her wear purple tights with pink spots on
She didn’t want shreddies she wanted Malt Wheaties
I gave her the wrong coloured spoon
She wanted to wear her sparkly pink party shoes not her sensible school shoes
Her shoes were too tight
Her shoes were too loose
She wanted to go in Daddy’s car not Mummy’s car
Her brother got in the car first
Her brother got out of the car first
She wanted to hold the dog’s lead
The dog was pulling too hard
Another school child walked past her
She wanted her brother’s snack instead of her own (They both had an apple)
Please tell me I’m not the only parent who has to endure this every single morning?
