A few weeks ago I was having a really bad day! You know one of those where everything that could possibly go wrong did go wrong. To top it off I then received some rather nasty comments on my YouTube channel which I know is not uncommon and is one of the hazards of the job of being a blogger but that doesn’t make it any easier. Anyway following a day of crap I sent out the following tweet on Twitter…

to which the Aztec Spa responded…

So as you can imagine that improved my day and definitely restored my faith in humanity!

Aztec Spa

Aztec Spa Torquay

The Aztec Spa is located in Torquay and is part of the TLH leisure group which is a complex of 4 different hotels all surrounding the Aztec Spa and leisure complex.

Before I go into my review you need to know that in the past I haven’t been a huge fan of spa days. I have found the majority of places I have been to feel very clinical and not really very relaxing. Although I do love the idea of them. So I wasn’t really sure what to expect with the Aztec Spa and just assumed it would be much of the same.

I was wrong!

The minute I walked into the Aztec Bistro and saw the pool from the viewing window I knew that this place was going to be different.

The words blue and lagoon sprung to mind! It was a this point that I started to get excited about seeing the rest of the facilities.

The Aztec Spa

I was first shown to the relaxation area in the spa which was a really lovely space with comfy sofas, bean bags and a lovely water feature at one end. There was a free tea and coffee making station complete with a selection of herbal teas, which made me happy. I could of spent an entire day just lounging in the relaxation room.

The Treatment

The treatment I had was their Skin Specific Facial which they tailor to your skin type, for example oily, dry or combination skin. The facial lasted for an hour and was very enjoyable. The spa does a whole range of different treatments including facials, massages, detoxifying treatments, body wraps and treatments for men. The also have whole spa days which you can book with friends, prices start from £39.

As well as my treatment I was also allowed access to the swimming pool and the other spa facilities including the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The best bit about the swimming pool was that the water was warm; the last place that we went for a spa day the water was freezing which wasn’t very enjoyable. I had a lovely relaxing swim and then went in the steam room. As well as the main pool they also have a separate childrens pool which is even warmer  but not as deep.

Aztec Games & Bistro

As well as the swimming pool and spa there is also the Aztec Bistro which looks down over the pool. They have a great offer called ‘Dip & Dine’ which costs £12 per adult and £6 per child and includes your food in the bistro, a swim and also free access to the soft play. I definitely want to take my two to do this one day.

The Aztec Games also looked like fun. In this area they have activities like the soft play, bowling, pool tables, table tennis and archery.

In Conclusion

I had a really lovely time at the Aztec Spa and I was genuinely surprised by the facilities that they have. It is by far the best spa that I have been to in Devon.

Here’s a video of my experience. I would of liked to of got more footage of the place itself but I had to be careful regarding filming other people in their swim wear, which is completely understandable.
