Thrifty Thursday: June 2016

This week I’m bringing you Thrifty Thursday from the water, hopefully we’re currently somewhere off the Cornwall coast, perhaps Fowey or Falmouth. It is our first ‘unplugged’ holiday of the year and is very much needed. No wifi, no 3G, no laptop just sun, sea and plenty of fresh air. Here’s a shot from last years trip, hopefully we are having the same weather as then, it was gorgeous!Read More »Thrifty Thursday: June 2016

Thrifty Thursday – May 2016

I’m currently sat here trying to think what I have done over the last month to be thrifty and the answer to that is nothing really that significant other than the normal monthly thrifty things we do. I did manage to get some more school uniform bits for the kiddies at the second hand uniform sale which saved me around £60 which I’m pleased about. We’ve been using up our leftovers to save on our weekly food shop but we do that every week.Read More »Thrifty Thursday – May 2016

Thrifty Thursday & Valentine’s Day Offers

It’s the first Thursday of the month which means it’s time for another Thrifty Thursday linky. I can’t quite believe that it is February already, looks like this year is going to fly by like all of the rest.

We’ve been fairly thrifty throughout January although it was our son’s birthday which always seems to cost a bit no matter what you do. We opted to have a joint party with one of his school friends; by doing it that way we split the cost equally between the two families which worked out really well. It enabled us to get a magician for the party and have the ‘gold package’ which included extras such as balloon modelling and party bags.

Thrifty Thursday – Preparing for Christmas

Now that it’s December and we have got all of the Autumn birthday celebrations out of the way I can finally start to concentrate on Christmas preparations. This year we have a full house again with 14 guests! I have been desperately trying to get our house into some sort of order before the big day, it’s taking much longer than I anticipated. I’ve been selling off anything that we no longer want or use to make a bit of extra cash and make some extra room.

Thrifty Thursday – Now A Monthly Linky

I have been running my Thrifty Thursday linky now for over 2 years and in that time I’ve had some lovely bloggers link up their frugal posts. I have really enjoyed reading them and they have kept me motivated on the money saving front.

Time has become a major issue in our house recently, in that we never seem to have enough of it so I have made the decision to switch the linky from a weekly one to monthly instead. The linky will now go live on the first Thursday of every month and will stay open for 2 weeks. So for the first time the new monthly linky is now open!  I hope you can join us and please do let others know about it too.Read More »Thrifty Thursday – Now A Monthly Linky

Thrifty Periods & Zero Waste Week

I’ll start of this post by saying this is a post about periods, if words like blood and vagina freak you out you then might I suggest you read something else. If however you would like to learn how you can save money on your period every month while also reducing your household waste then read on.

Zero Waste Week

I was inspired to write this post because of the theme for this years Zero Waste Week which is ‘Reuse’. I started to think about products that we use in the house and what we could start reusing insteadRead More »Thrifty Periods & Zero Waste Week

Thrifty Thursday – Making Money at Car Boot Sales

Firstly I’ll start off with an apology for the lack of Thrifty Thursday recently. It’s been a bit manic here what with end of term and all the things that it entails.

I’ve been on a mission the last few weeks to get our house more organised and get rid of anything that we no longer use or need. I’ve been slowly building up a collection of unwanted goods in our downstairs toilet ready to sell at a car boot.
