This week I’m bringing you Thrifty Thursday from the water, hopefully we’re currently somewhere off the Cornwall coast, perhaps Fowey or Falmouth. It is our first ‘unplugged’ holiday of the year and is very much needed. No wifi, no 3G, no laptop just sun, sea and plenty of fresh air. Here’s a shot from last years trip, hopefully we are having the same weather as then, it was gorgeous! Continue reading “Thrifty Thursday: June 2016”
I’m currently sat here trying to think what I have done over the last month to be thrifty and the answer to that is nothing really that significant other than the normal monthly thrifty things we do. I did manage to get some more school uniform bits for the kiddies at the second hand uniform sale which saved me around £60 which I’m pleased about. We’ve been using up our leftovers to save on our weekly food shop but we do that every week. Continue reading “Thrifty Thursday – May 2016”
Welcome to this month’s Thrifty Thursday, is it just me or does it seem like ages ago since the last one? We have been uber thrifty during the Easter holidays, opting to go on lots of free days out rather than spending money. We’ve been on lots of nice walks, built a den in the woods and also started our Spring foraging. I’ll add my wild garlic pesto posts below. Continue reading “Thrifty Thursday – April 2016”
Where is this year going? It cannot possibly be March already. It’s the beginning of the month yet again which means it’s time for another Thrifty Thursday.
This month I thought I would share with you some last minute Mother’s Day deals for anyone, like me, who leaves it to the last minute and then panic buys. Please say I’m not the only one?
I’ve picked out some of my favourite deals for you… Continue reading “Thrifty Thursday – Last Minute Mother’s Day Deals”
It’s the first Thursday of the month which means it’s time for another Thrifty Thursday linky. I can’t quite believe that it is February already, looks like this year is going to fly by like all of the rest.
We’ve been fairly thrifty throughout January although it was our son’s birthday which always seems to cost a bit no matter what you do. We opted to have a joint party with one of his school friends; by doing it that way we split the cost equally between the two families which worked out really well. It enabled us to get a magician for the party and have the ‘gold package’ which included extras such as balloon modelling and party bags.
Now that it’s December and we have got all of the Autumn birthday celebrations out of the way I can finally start to concentrate on Christmas preparations. This year we have a full house again with 14 guests! I have been desperately trying to get our house into some sort of order before the big day, it’s taking much longer than I anticipated. I’ve been selling off anything that we no longer want or use to make a bit of extra cash and make some extra room.
I have been running my Thrifty Thursday linky now for over 2 years and in that time I’ve had some lovely bloggers link up their frugal posts. I have really enjoyed reading them and they have kept me motivated on the money saving front.
Time has become a major issue in our house recently, in that we never seem to have enough of it so I have made the decision to switch the linky from a weekly one to monthly instead. The linky will now go live on the first Thursday of every month and will stay open for 2 weeks. So for the first time the new monthly linky is now open! I hope you can join us and please do let others know about it too. Continue reading “Thrifty Thursday – Now A Monthly Linky”
Thrifty Thursday has been a little quiet as of late, totally my fault for not promoting it properly or posting regularly. Life has been manic as ever and October is always a particularly busy month for us, with lots of birthdays and events going on. I have decided to change the linky from a weekly one to a monthly one Continue reading “Thrifty Thursday Switching to a Monthly Linky”
I have been really slack with Thrifty Thursday as of late and I’m sorry for that. Life seems to be flying by at a rate of knots at the moment and if I’m honest I’m struggling to keep up. I’m still desperately trying to organise our house. Continue reading “Thrifty Thursday – Better Late Than Never!”
I’ll start of this post by saying this is a post about periods, if words like blood and vagina freak you out you then might I suggest you read something else. If however you would like to learn how you can save money on your period every month while also reducing your household waste then read on.
Zero Waste Week
I was inspired to write this post because of the theme for this years Zero Waste Week which is ‘Reuse’. I started to think about products that we use in the house and what we could start reusing instead Continue reading “Thrifty Periods & Zero Waste Week”
