Exploring The Green Economy Careers

Living a green lifestyle – whether through a zero waste policy or something else that works best for you – is a commitment that gives back. In addition to living green within your home-life, there are also great career options that make it possible for you to keep living green during your working hours by becoming a part of the green economy.

Keep in mind though that these opportunities are not specific to any particular sector, as many sectors tend to either focus specifically on the environment or to incorporate environmental friendliness into their existing line of work.

If this sparks your interest, are you familiar with the career opportunities already available? If there is a specific company or list of companies that you would like to work for, especially in case you already know which exact position you would like to fill within those companies, the best option would be to apply directly.

Instead, if you are unsure of where to start and which exact position you would like to apply for, it could be a good idea to use job search aggregators. Thanks to the Internet you can go through all green job openings, no matter if you are looking for a job in Exeter or Leeds.

Though an immediate thought of a career in the green economy leads me to think of an organic farmer or someone in a position to combat climate change, there are so many other options out there that one could get involved with. In case you are part of the ladder, motivated and curious to see what options are out there, I thought I’d share my findings with you here today.

  1. My husband is a Process Controller for Viridor Waste. His team process the general household waste that comes from local homes, separating out the recyclable components so that it can be reduced into more environmentally friendly waste product. It’s a messy, smelly, stressful job, but someone has to do it!

I'd love to know what you think...
