Flavoured Matcha Tea Review – Adagio Teas

If I was going to be stranded on a desert island and I was allowed to take one thing it would probably be green tea. I am totally and utterly addicted to the stuff! I also swear it is the main reason that my weight stays under control without dieting. On a normal day I will have anything up to 7 mugs of green tea. I’ll also have a least one cup of matcha.

What is Matcha Tea?

Matcha Green Tea by Adagio Teas

Matcha is essential a concentrated form of green tea. It comes in powdered form and is grown in Japan. When correctly prepared it creates a frothy green tea. Unlike the British, dunk a teabag and pour milk over the top approach to tea, matcha is all about the process of making it. The Japanese even have whole ceremonies which centres on the preparation, serving and drinking of matcha. *Source*

Cinnamon & Apple Matcha

The first flavoured matcha tea I tried from the Adagio Teas was their cinnamon and apple matcha. I’m a big fan of cinnamon and I was intrigued to see what the combination would be like. It didn’t disappoint.

Matcha cinnamon and apple flavour

The taste of the cinnamon and apple was very subtle and it definitely gave an interesting twist to the plain matcha. The smell is amazing, it would be the perfect drink to have in the Autumn months.

Chocolate Matcha

Now this one I was very intrigued by, I just couldn’t imagine what this combination would taste like. In my head the two different flavors just don’t mix! However after tasting I can confirm that the two compliment each other very well.

Chocolate Matcha by Adagio Teas

If you shut your eyes and smell the chocolate matcha you would think you are smelling a box of coco powder, there is no mistaking the chocolate scent. However when you taste it it doesn’t taste how you would expect. I was expecting it to taste a lot more chocolaty, mainly because of how it smelt.

What it actually tastes like is a hot drink with a hint of chocolate. Once I had got my head around this I actually really liked it as you still get that chocolaty taste without it being completely overpowering like some hot chocolates can be.

In Summary

  • I enjoyed both of the flavoured teas
  • The tea is fantastic quality and very fresh
  • I love the little tin boxes that the tea comes in, both beautiful and practical
  • I believe that each flavour would suit a different mood or season
  • I shall definitely be drinking more flavoured matcha in the future
