If you follow this blog regularly you will know that we have recently bought a brand new house. I’ve had great fun so far coming up with decorating themes for each of the rooms.
We are now at the point where we have done lots of different things in different rooms but nothing is quite finished. It’s frustrating! We definitely underestimated how much work a new house is in terms of getting it decorated exactly how you want it.
My next challenge is to get our living room finished ready for everyone coming here at Christmas. I have gone for a gold, cream & coral (quite grand) look.
I thought I would share some of my inspiration with you…
Update: This is how far I have got with our living room.Β There are still a few things that I want to do to further improve it, for example, I’d like to include some *gold damask pattern wallpaperΒ on the back wall.
Another cool idea that I’m considering is to decorate the living room walls with custom neon signs. Neon signs are an effective way to add a splash of colour to a space, create a practical night light, or find an inspirational quote. A good example is using a sign that spells the word βhomeβ to evoke a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Although being a bit quirky myself I do quite like the ones with rude words on them! I’l leave that your imagination.
I’d also like to get a new rug, We’ve had the one in the picture for several years now and it’s looking very tired. I’d love to introduce a bit of tribal into the room. I did have coral coloured cushions as well as the yellow ones but they got ruined within seconds by the kids and the dog! Lesson learnt there.

You’ve chosen a lovely colour palette, good luck with putting it all together! I loved seeing your Pinterest board too.

Thanks Rachel, I’m hoping it will all come together nicely. I’ve just got to find some coral cushions for my sofas now
Oh that’s something unusual but I love it. I look forward to seeing it all together #loveyourhome
I thought it was a bit different! Hopefully it will look good when it’s finished π
Good luck with the decorating – it does seem to take forever doesn’t it, but and I’m sure your mantra has become “it’ll look great when it’s done!”
Yes that sounds about right Stephanie!
Wow these are great. really like that lamp with the petal stand #pocolo
Yes I liked that too Rebecca. Not sure I’ll be able to find anything as elaborate as that for our room though. Although TKMaxx do have some fantastically unusual lamps in store so maybe I’ll check them out.
Beautiful colour combo and I love the images you show. Adding a touch of gold to a room always adds glamour, style and warmth, especially if matched with a beautiful sparkling chandelier. Large ornate gold gilt mirrors can be fabulous features in a room, like in the exquisite french style room above. Have you decided if you’re adding a hint of each colour or is one going to take main stage. Good luck, sounds like an exciting project :O)
I’m a big fan or large gold gilt mirrors. I’d have them in every room in our house if I thought I’d get away with it! They are hard to dust though! π
Gold is definitely taking centre stage I’d say. I’m a huge fan of gold.
Love these colours looks so chic, glamorous and relaxing xx
Thank you Louise π
Really love this colour scheme! And it’d be so easy to ‘dress’ up for each season as well. Can’t wait to see you put it into action! π
Thanks Karen. It’s definitely coming along, albeit slowly.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment on my PoCoLo post – it feels like forever since we spoke to each other! I don’t think I realised about your new home, I hope it is all going really well. I absolutely love the colours on here, so beautiful. Thank you for linking to PoCoLo π x
Hi Victoria, time does seem to fly by too fast!
