Hate Cleaning? Try Speed Cleaning

I hate cleaning! I seem to spend my life following around after the kids picking up a trail of destruction. It just seems to be a complete waste of time and effort and now that I have started my new job (Editor for Mumsnet Devon yay) I’m really worried about how I’m going to keep up with it all.

Speed Cleaning

That was until I heard about,  the delight that is, ‘Speed Cleaning’.

The idea behind it is that you set a timer, I do it for half an hour, and you literally race around the entire house and clean it within that time.

I have just done it here and in that half an hour I managed to hoover all of upstairs and down, make all of the beds, tidy away anything that wasn’t in the right place, do the washing up, put bleach down the toilets and put a load of clothes on a wash cycle.

You do really have to go for it though and if your not sweaty and out of breath by the time you’ve finished then you’re not doing it right! It’s perfect because not only does your house get a good sort out, it is also your half an hour of exercise for the day.

Some of my friends use antibacterial wipes for easy cleaning. Although I don’t do this myself I can see how it can be good for a quick fix if you don’t have time to do a deep clean.

Another great ‘cheat cleaning’ tip that I have just discovered is using *essential oilsinside your loo rolls. All you need is just one drop on the inside of the roll and then every time the loo roll gets spun around it releases a lovely scent into the room.

Much better for you than these air fresheners that the shops sell and way cheaper too. One pot of essential oil can cost you as little as 99p and will last for a really long time. I great way to have your bathroom constantly smelling nice and fresh.

So now it’s your turn to give ‘speed cleaning’ ago. Let me know how you get on.

  1. Ooh…interesting…..

I like the idea of a challenge! And will try the essential oil thing. The loo roll spins a lot in this house!
