Welcome back to the my third Meet a Devon Blogger interview series. If I’m being honest I’m a little shocked at how popular it’s been! Clearly you are interested to learn more about the people behind the blogs which is great!

If you’d like to keep up to date with the interviews then ‘Subscribe to my Tribe’ in the sidebar.

This week I’m interviewing Pip from The Slimming Foodie.

Firstly tell us a bit about yourself and your blog?

Pippa from the Slimming Foodie blog My name’s Pip, and I live near to Ivybridge in a converted former Victorian psychiatric hospital with my husband and 2 little girls (4 and 6)! We moved here 4 years ago from London, and love being back in Devon.

I worked in HR prior to having my 2nd baby, but since she was born in theory I am a stay-at-home parent, although in reality I help with my husband’s filming and aerial video business, run my blog, and sit on the Board of Governors at my daughter’s school, so there is very little actual staying at home!

My blog is The Slimming Foodie, and I started it following a successful Facebook page sharing my healthy recipes when I started Slimming World in 2015.

Why did you decide to start a blog and how long has it be running?

I started the blog in May 2015, I had really enjoyed building up a community on Facebook and sharing my recipes and the blog was a natural progression for me, as food has always been a passion of mine and I love sharing ideas with others!

How long have you lived in Devon?

I grew up in Torbay and moved away when I was 18, and then I moved back just before my 2nd daughter was born in 2012 as I wanted the girls to have their childhood here too.

Name 3 of your favourite places for a day out in Devon?

Dartington is one of my favourite places to visit- I’ve been going since I was a little girl, the gardens at Dartington Hall are just so beautiful and tranquil, they always make me feel happy and the girls love to explore there.

Broadsands beach- I grew up within walking distance of the beach and it’s just the perfect family beach, calm water, lots of sand, picturesque with the steam train puffing past. We’ll often be there for the day in the summer, or enjoying a fresh walk in the winter.

Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts- for the last few years my Mum and Dad have bought us an annual family pass and we love visiting both places- Living Coasts is fab if the weather’s rubbish as there’s lots to see and do inside, and Paignton zoo is a lovely family day out- loads of interesting animals and also lots of play areas that the girls love stopping off in!

Name 3 of your favourite places to eat?

I’m always so excited to discover somewhere new that has great food! My favourites at the moment are:

Rockfish in Brixham: Really just the best fish and chips in the world as far as I’m concerned (and I have tried lots!)- the setting is stunning, looking out over Brixham Harbour and you can even see the fish being landed! They do fabulous activity packs for the kids, have tablecloths that they can colour in, and unlimited chips! Can’t recommend it highly enough!

The Treby Arms in Sparkwell: I’ve only eaten there once, but the food was amazing, it’s a lovely cosy pub atmosphere, but with a very well deserved Michelin star! It’s owned by Anton Piotrowski who won Masterchef in 2012. If you are on a budget keep an eye out for great deals on bank holidays, and the set lunch menu is amazing value at £18 per person. They also use pork from the brilliant Old English Pig Company that is based right where I live on the edge of Dartmoor!

The Countryman’s Choice Farm Shop Restaurant in Ivybridge: My friends were all raving about the waffles here, so I thought I had better check them out, and they are amazing! Huge, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside and served with bacon and maple syrup. Just soooo good! Also their sweet potato fries are incredible. I have to admit to not having tried anything else there because these 2 things are so amazing! Lovely friendly, family owned place too. And a fabulous butcher in the shop to stock up on lovely Devon meat!

What do you love about living in Devon?

I just love all the amazing things we have on our doorstep for free, the beautiful beaches, Dartmoor, woodland walks- I just feel so lucky to live here and be able to bring my family up here. Plus of course the fact that Devon is such a fabulous foodie county is perfect for me- we have so many amazing food festivals and markets to visit, and so many amazing products coming out of Devon!

And anything you dislike?

I miss the shopping choice in London (although Exeter is fab!), and I sometimes find it annoying when shops/food places will only take cash! That’s a pretty minor grumble though!
