The quest for eternal youth is as old as humanity. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t crave youthful glowing skin? We all know that following a mindful diet, drinking plenty of water and hitting those wonderful yoga poses every day all work wonders for your body and mind, and that is definitely reflected in your skin.

But sometimes, no matter how hard we try, it seems that our skin is highly affected by the law of gravity and eventually those fine lines start turning into wrinkles, an inevitable part of the ageing process. I know it’s scary, but don’t worry. There’s no need to spend a lot of money on expensive and ineffective treatments or to pay a visit to the surgeon, as there are thousands of natural remedies to help you improve your skin complexion and work as ageing antidotes.

Let’s have a look at some of them.

Rice Water

Natural anti-ageing skin remedies Rice water is full of amazing properties that will leave your skin feeling refreshed and calm. Japanese women have been using this youth secret for centuries, and who doesn’t envy their flawless skin? Rice water helps to improve circulation, prevent and diminish ageing signs, and clear your skin. The best part is that you can make your own rice water in no time.

All you need is water and organic brown rice. You can either use the water left over from cooking your rice (in this case you’ll only need to add more water to it) or soak half a cup of rice in three cups of water. When the water becomes cloudy it’s ready to use. Pour it into a glass bottle to store it.

To use the water, soak a cotton pad in it (a reusable cotton pad is best) and massage it into your makeup-free skin – you can use organic raw coconut oil as a makeup remover.

Oats and Blueberry Exfoliating Mask

Blueberries for natural beauty

Blueberry oats are a good breakfast option and they are also a powerful anti-ageing exfoliating mask. Blueberries help to neutralise free radicals thanks to the phytochemicals in them. When you apply them on your skin, they’ll make it feel softer and look younger. If you combine the blueberries with oats – which also have anti-ageing properties as they help to reverse the damage caused by UV rays – you’ll end up with an incredible scrub. Use honey to help the mix stick together.

Apply this exfoliating mask once a week for better results.

Remove Toxic Substances From Your Daily Life

Probably the best anti-ageing cure for your skin is to make sure you aren’t taking in harmful substances on a day-to-day basis.  This could be alcohol, drugs or smoking.  Smoking is one of the quickest ways you can start to age your skin. It speeds up the normal ageing process of your skin which contributes to wrinkles.

Tobacco smoke can also damage collagen and elastin which are the fibres that give skin strength + elasticity. So, if you are a smoker, consider quitting altogether or begin phasing out your cigarette intake with a Vape Kit.

Using a kit like this might feel like cheating – it’s not exactly punishment, it tastes good. But smokers all over the UK are finding vaping a painless way to get on the path towards giving up smoking forever. Your skin will love you for it!

Avocado – Honey Moisturiser Mask

Avocado face mask - Natural Beauty

Avocados are rich in vitamins C and E, fatty acids and antioxidants. They taste good and they also feel great on your skin. With this homemade avocado honey mask, you will improve your skin complexion by deeply moisturising your skin. Just place a quarter of an avocado and one tablespoon of honey into a blender to create a smooth cream.

Light some herbal scent candles, start your favourite playlist and apply the mixture to your face. You’ll have to leave it for at least one hour, which will give you the perfect excuse to stop and take some ‘me time’. Because it’s a moisturising mask, you can use it two to three days each week.

Homemade Vitamin C Serum

The wonderful properties of vitamin C can help you slow the damage from free radicals, and when you apply it directly to the skin it can help to increase collagen production. To benefit from all its properties, apply a homemade vitamin C serum to your skin every night. Mix two pure vitamin C capsules with two pure vitamin E capsules, one tablespoon of aloe vera gel and five tablespoons of rose water. Put the mix into a small container and keep it in a cool place.

Because it’s a 100% natural serum, it will only last five days, so make sure you use it within that time frame.

Avocado Coconut Body Oil

Don’t forget to pamper your body skin too. As mentioned before, avocado has tremendous benefits for the skin, but if you combine it with coconut oil, those properties are tripled. Organic raw coconut oil also has anti-ageing properties. It promotes collagen production by penetrating deep into the skin.

Coconut oil for natural beauty

For the perfect body oil, combine a quarter part virgin coconut oil with a quarter part avocado oil and a quarter part of sweet almond oil. Shake the three oils until they have blended and apply the mixture daily. You can go the extra mile and add some drops of your favourite essential oil – like lavender, geranium or eucalyptusto create personalised scented body oils, a fresh one for summer and a warm one for winter.

And of course, remember to drink green tea as it’s full of antioxidants. A helpful tip is to put a green tea bag into your reusable water bottle and let the tea work its magic.

Hope you find these natural remedies useful, would you try one?
