This year I have been looking into new ways of saving or making money. I’m going to be testing a variety of different ideas and see which ones are actually worth the time.

I have tried things in the past that have taken up a lot of time with very little outlay. I’m hoping that these new ways will be worth the effort.

New Ways To Save or Make Money This Year

Here is a list of things that we are going to try…

Kidstart

*Kidstart is a cashback site, which means that you can earn money back from purchases that you make online. There are quite a few cashback sites out there but I’ve chosen to try this one. I have set up two separate accounts for my kiddies and so far I’ve made £2.86. Not break the bank stuff but by the end of the year, it might be worth it.

To find out more about Kidstart read my How to use Kidstart for Free Cash Back post.

Use my home as a film shoot location

Filmmakers are always looking for new locations to shoot their films. There are lots of sites online where you can register your house as a new location. I have chosen to use My House Your Shoot. It’s free to use and if your house gets chosen you will then get paid. I’m not holding out for this one but as it was free I thought it might be worth a go.

Use Deals & Vouchers Sites like Deals Daddy

You can save yourself a fortune by hunting for voucher codes before you shop. There are lots of deals and vouchers sites out there but one that is particularly popular is DealsDaddy. They can help to save you money every time you shop with voucher codes, discount codes and promo codes.

Recycle old printer cartridges

There are lots of companies out there that will pay you for your old printer cartridges. You can find out more about this at The Recycling Factory. As the other half and I both work from home we get through quite a few cartridges. Now all I need to do is find a company that takes our type of cartridges.

Get More Paid Work on my Blog

This year I’m determined to earn more money from my blog. I plan to do this by actively seeking more companies to collaborate with. I’m currently making a blog plan for the year ahead and hopefully (if I stick to it) I should see an increase in my earrings by the end of next year.

If you are interested in starting your own blog and making money from it then check out my How To Start a Blog post.

Selling unwanted items on Shpock

Shpock is a new car boot app where you can sell your unwanted goods. You can read about it in my Shpock review. My friend has been using it to sell all of her unwanted baby items and she’s done really well from it so far.

Buying discounted groceries

I have recently been made aware of discount food sites such as Approved Foods where you can buy food that is over it’s sell-by date at a reduced price. I’ve yet to actually buy anything from the site as there doesn’t seem to be much on there that we would use or the things we would normally buy but I shall keep my eye on it.

Get nectar points

I have recently got a new Nectar Card which I am going to make a conscious effort to actually use and hopefully use the points for days out in the Summer. I’ve been told that I can link it to our British Gas account and get points that way so I’m going to do that and also use it when I’m on eBay (which is quite a lot!)

So far I have £5.25!

Use Clubcard boost

I have always been a big fan of my Tesco Clubcard. When our son was born I doubled up on my points in the baby & toddler section and managed to get everything we needed for him for free! This year I’m going to use it for the Clubcard Boost for meals out in the Summer when we are away on the boat.

You can get up to 4 x your voucher value! Which sounds like a great deal to me. I’m currently trying to convince the other half to get all of his fuel at the Tesco garages to boost it up a bit.

Completing online surveys

I have recently signed up with *InboxPounds where you can earn money for completing surveys, clicking on emails, searching the web and playing games. It’s free to sign up and you get £1.00 into your account straight away as a sign-up bonus.

Couponing

I have attempted couponing in the past but I’ve never really got on with it. It just seems to take so much time to source and print the coupons. I’m guessing there is probably a better way to do it so I shall do a bit of research and see if I can come up with a better system.

Use shopping apps

I’ve recently been told about CheckoutSmart which is a shopping app where you can get money off of products. The app is free to use so worth a try. So far I have only used it once and got all of this for free…

If you know of any other ways to save or make money I’d love to hear them!
