The Christmas trees have gone up, the decorations are out, we’ve gone into full blown Christmas mode in our house this weekend.
This Saturday I took the kiddies to have tea with Father Christmas at our local garden centre called Jack’s Patch. The centre is part of the Wyevale Garden Centres they are at various locations all over the country. The other Devon ones are Endsleigh in Ivybridge, Sidmouth and Ashford Barnstaple.
Last year we did the Breakfast with Father Christmas and the kiddies had such a lovely time we thought we try the tea this year. As it was a special occasion we even dug out the Christmas jumpers.
Tea with Father Christmas
When we arrived we were shown to our table by a very helpful elf. The table had been decorated with crackers, Christmas colouring and a card for the family.
Child’s Hot Tea
For my two I opted for the child’s hot tea which was a choice of sausages, chicken nuggets or jacket potatoes. My two chose the sausages with chips and vegetables.
There is also the option of a child’s cold tea which consists of any 5 items from their My Picnic range.
When you are eating Father Christmas comes round to have a chat with the kiddies which they thought was great. The children also got to use the small soft play area while they waited for their food.
Adults Afternoon Tea
My Mother in Law and I opted for the adults afternoon tea which was a high tea and includes sandwiches, cinnamon scones and a selection of sweet treats. The cinnamon scones were amazing!
Biscuit Decorating
When we had finished eating the elf came back with biscuit for the kiddies to decorate. Last year we had Christmas trees and this year we had snowmen.
If your children want to they can take their biscuits home in a box and eat them later. There was no chance of that happening with my two!
Visit to Santa’s Grotto
Last year Santa’s grotto was next to the restaurant area in a cabin outside but this year they had created a larger grotto in the store area complete with dancing polar bears and penguins. Check out my video below to see them in action.
As this is a pre booked only grotto there wasn’t any rush when we were in there. The kids spent quite a bit of time chatting to Father Christmas and we managed to get quite a few photos too.
Some of the grottos we have been to in the past at other places have been a bit of a rush as they have to get through a lot of children at once. This is why we like coming here as it’s much more relaxed.
Once the kiddies had chatted Father Christmas’s ear off they were able to choose any present they wanted from the selection on the shelves. This process took several minutes as there was a lot to choose from.
Lowenna opted for a sand art kit and Henry chose a racing car.
How Much Does it Cost
Tickets are £9.99 per child which includes food, a visit to Santa’s grotto, a present and biscuit decorating. The Adults afternoon tea is £7.99 or you can have the mini tea for £3.99. We had the afternoon tea.
How to Book
Tickets can be booked on the Wyevale website and as I said they have centres all over the country so check out their website to find your nearest store.

Both of mine really enjoyed their tea with Father Christmas and hopefully they’ve made some more happy memories.
We went to the Sidmouth Wyevale at the weekend to see Santa there. Looks like you all had a great time.
We were invited to go to the Sidmouth one next weekend but we’ve already got stuff on so can’t make it 🙁
Was it good Lynsey? The Wyevale grottos normally are 🙂
Yes it was good, a bit chilly but the kids loved it. I am in the process of writing the review so should be up tomorrow. Father Christmas was lovely!
Looking forward to reading your review Lynsey 🙂
This looks brilliant Gina – my kids would love it! I have never been to Jack’s Patch but it’s not too far down the road from us so it’s definitely on the list.
My two love it Clio, I’d definitely recommend it 🙂
That sounds lovely. We haven’t been there yet so maybe worth a visit with Isabelle x
