Thrifty Thursday – Preparing for Christmas

Now that it’s December and we have got all of the Autumn birthday celebrations out of the way I can finally start to concentrate on Christmas preparations. This year we have a full house again with 14 guests! I have been desperately trying to get our house into some sort of order before the big day, it’s taking much longer than I anticipated. I’ve been selling off anything that we no longer want or use to make a bit of extra cash and make some extra room.

Thrifty Christmas Tree

I have already started decorating the house with all of our Christmas bits and pieces. The new tree has gone up and actually fits in the space that I intended it too which was a concern and now a relief. I was sent the tree last year for a Thrifty Christmas Trees review post but I received it in January so haven’t had a chance to have a look at it properly until now. The tree was from a company called Christmas Tree World and they hold a massive tree sale in January so if you think you may need a new tree for next year do have a look on their site in the new year.

Thrifty Christmas Shopping

I’m being very smart with our buying this year by making the most out of loyalty cards and discount & cashback sites. Wherever possible I have been using my Kidstart account to purchase goods online which all adds ups. One of my aims for next year is to remember to use Kidstart every time we shop throughout the entire year and then see how much we made at the end.

Thrifty Christmas Blogging

I have also been taking full advantage of blogging opportunities to get gifts for people like these personalised stocking stuffers. It used to annoy me that family members never showed an interest in my blog but actually it now works in my favour as they don’t see the posts before I give the gifts to them, which is great!

Thrifty Thursday

Thrifty ThursdayThrifty Thursday is a monthly linky and a place to share your thrifty posts. It doesn’t matter if they are old or new and can be about anything to do with saving money and being thrifty. Whether it be a post on cutting back on your food shop or your latest thrifty find link it up, I’d love to see it.

You have the best tree! We usually have a sort through and sell some things for some extra money at Christmas. I also start my Christmas shopping really early!

    1. Thank Hayleigh, it’s a new tree that we got in the January sales. I was worried that it was going to be too big for the space but it fits quite well which is a relief.

  2. Fabulous post, i will definitely check the Christmas Tree company out in January as we need a bigger tree next year as the boys will be bigger and hopefully past the pulling the tree on top of themselves stage! I will also look into creating a Kid Start account for when i shop online in the future 🙂

    1. Hi Amy, Thank you for linking up your post. You should definitely check out Christmas Tree World they’ve got some great trees on there and some fantastic bargains, especially in January.

  3. Hi Gina, I am impressed by your dedication to getting rid of stuff – I encouraged my two boys to do the same a few weeks ago using the excuse of donating things to the school Christmas Fayre. That worked… until they went to the fayre and bought a load of new stuff to replace it with 🙁 At least it was all cheap!

    1. At least they didn’t buy back their old donated toys which is what my two did last year! I paid for my own stuff! Very frustrating 😉

I'd love to know what you think...
