Thrifty Thursday – Thrifty Gym Pass

I have wanted to join the gym for a while now, when I was younger I use to go virtually everyday! The main thing that has been putting me off is the cost. For membership to our local sports centre gym it costs £32 which I feel is a lot of money each month especially as the boy has just started Street Dance classes each week at a fiver a go.

I now have Lj on my case too, she also wants to start some form of dance, add that to swimming lessons each week and I’m seriously out of pocket!

I conducted a bit of research into other gyms in the area and I managed to find another local gym, smaller than the leisure centre one but that doesn’t bother me and they only charge £14 a month! That’s under half the price of the other one. It’s also the same distance away as the other gym so it won’t cost me any more in fuel.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that if like me you don’t want to pay big prices for gym membership do your research first and find out what else there is in your area.

Here are my top picks from last week’s link up…

Some great savings ideas. With regard to gyms, I’d recommend a ‘Bootcamp’. Sounds very military but they are great for keeping you motivated and the ex-military instructors are expert in ensuring you’re using the correct technique. There’s no shouting and lots of support from staff and those in the class. Added to this, the results are amazing and lasting. Plus you don’t have to watch MTV!

I'd love to know what you think...
