I have long been a fan of natural beauty trends, in fact pretty much everything I use now is natural. I really don’t like the thought of putting chemicals on my hair or skin; I believe it can be detrimental to your long term health, therefore I’m constantly on the lookout for new natural beauty products to try.

Today I have put together a selection of natural beauty trends that are predicted to be very popular in 2017.

Top 5 Organic Beauty Trends

Seaweed

Seaweed

Seaweed has high levels of calcium and omega 3 & 6 which are great for stimulating hair follicles, hydrating your scalp and promoting hair growth. If you fancy having long luscious mermaid hair then apparently seaweed is the way forward.

As well as being good for your hair it can also be eaten, it’s especially good at keeping your thyroid gland healthy. The author of Natural Alternatives to Sugar, Dr Marilyn Glenville, explains:

“The Japanese also eat good quantities of seaweed which contain important trace minerals like selenium and iodine for healthy thyroid function. A wealth of immune boosting minerals, vitamins and amino acids can be found in seaweed, so try adding a little to your soups or mix with mashed potato.”

Jojoba

Jojoba is an organic oil that is renowned for balancing oil production in the skin. It’s a non-comedogenic oil, meaning it’s less likely to clog your pores, perfect for acne or sensitive skin sufferers.

Sonja Dymalovski, a skincare expert at What Skin Needs, recommends the following:

“Natural oils tend to be much gentler on the skin which is why so many people favour organic skincare. Jojoba oil is easily absorbed into the skin, which is wonderful for people who might have drier skin. I would recommend using a organic serum like What Skin Needs Hydrating Facial Serum as it also contains Plantolin which has anti-inflammatory properties.”

I have just started to use the serum myself and so far it’s really good. Full review to follow shortly.

Pomegranate

We all know that pomegranate tastes great but did you also know that it’s packed with antioxidants that help to combat ageing? It boosts collagen levels and can help to protect the skin from further damage.

Shona Wilkinson, from Superfood UK, explains:
“Pomegranates are native to Iran and India, in Ayurveda they are a symbol of fertility and prosperity!  They are packed full of nutrients and contain high levels of vitamin C. Try tossing the pomegranate seeds on a salad for a brilliantly colourful, crunchy, and nutritious addition and add them to your smoothies for a great taste.”

Probiotics

Probiotics have long been endorsed by celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Miranda Kerr and Halle Berry.  They work by having a calming effect on the skin by balancing the bacteria in your digestive system.

Nutritionist, Cassandra Barns, explains:
“The skin is also closely connected to the gut and supporting gut function can help to reduce skin outbreaks. There are a number of studies linking the use of probiotics to positive outcomes for eczema, acne, rosacea and anti-aging.”

Green Tea

Green Tea

Green tea is packed full of antioxidants and nutrients which have a wonderful effect on the skin. It has also been said to increase your metabolism, handy for anyone trying to shed those few extra pounds. I personally swear by green tea, I drink at least 5 cups a day and wouldn’t live without it now.

Lilly Soutter, a nutritionist and weight loss expert, said the following…

“The catechins found in green tea also help balance blood sugar levels. An added bonus is that green tea can help to lower cholesterol and triglycerides, as the polyphenols can help the body both eliminate cholesterol and stop its absorption. Try having 2 to 3 cups daily, in between meals.”

Latest studies have also discovered that it can reduce the risk of sunburn. Green tea has quite a distinct taste which some people are put off by but you can get around that by trying a flavoured green tea. I have a selection at home from apple & mango to chocolate.

  1. This is really interesting and I am a strong believer in the power of what you eat affecting your health and beauty. I adore green tea but have to say I am less keen on pomegranates and am not sure I have ever eaten seaweed. I wonder if I can buy it in France? Visiting from BritMum’s Env roundup.

    1. I keep meaning to cook seaweed on the boat but just never seem to get around to it. Maybe next Summer I’ll finally make it happen.
I’m also an avid green tea drinker, I swear it’s what helps me to keep the weight off

  2. I usually use jojoba oil and green tea to my beauty regimen. There are really helpful and useful, you don’t need to spend a lot with beauty products just to aim the beauty look you always wanted. But, going organic or naturally is the best way to resolve the problem, but of course this depends on you. Ever since I cut of using some products with chemical. I really have a sensitive skin then I decided to go with organic and I just love the results. Thank for sharing this, you have lovely blog. Keep it up! 🙂

I'd love to know what you think...
