You may have noticed that my blog has suddenly changed. It’s been a long time coming really and I’m so happy that I’ve finally taken the plunge and gone for it. The main reason for the change was to regain a bit of focus on my blog. When I first started blogging 5 years ago I had two young children both of whom were still in nappies. It was hard work and I very rarely got any time to sit down and drink a hot cup of tea, hence the name ‘Cold Tea & Smelly Nappies’. However 5 years on and we are well past the nappies stage, both of the kiddies are at school and I regularly drink at least 5 cups of hot tea a day. The name just didn’t fit anymore! That and I was fed up with getting emails asking if we’d like to review nappies even though my youngest is now 5!
So I knew it was time for a change.
I think a lot of bloggers find that when they first start out they tend to write a bit about this and that and there isn’t really much focus to the blog but over time you start to find your niche in the blogosphere. I started off writing quite a bit about my children and parenting in general but now I find I writeย much less about the children and more about thrift and lifestyle. So that is my new focus. I will obviously still write about the children, you’ll find those posts in my Family section.
Why Gypsy Soul?
I spent many evenings trying to come up with a new name for my blog and then a remembered a quote that I had read awhile ago…
I feel that this quote pretty much sums me up in one go and as my blog is an extension of myself I felt it was a good fit.
It was quite a stressful week last week getting the new look blog up and running, luckily though I had help from a lady called Emily who blogs over at The Daily Fashion Inspiration. Emily did all of the design for the new look and I’m so happy with it! If you are looking to redesign your blog you should definitely get in touch with her.ย
I still have a few things to sort out this week and I’m yet to actually change the URL which I really need to get on and do, it’s just the whole redirect thing scares me as I know I’ll probably do something wrong! Hopefully though by the end of this week it will all be done.
It’s quite a scary prospect, rebranding your blog, especially when you have worked hard on it for the last 5 years. My main concern was losing existing followers and the second was losing business, luckily so far, neither has been a problem. Thank you for sticking with me.
I really hope you like the new look and name and if you have any feedback I’d love to hear it!
I love the new name and the meaning behind it….It makes more sense since your children are growing up! I’m glad it’s all working out. ๐ x
