This is a sponsored post with Sintra Naturals: Handmade luxurious artisan soaps and skincare. Vegan in plastic free packaging.
One thing I have learnt over the years when it comes to zero waste & plastic free skincare is to keep it simple. The fewer products you use the better but make sure the products you do use are natural, eco-friendly, good quality and of course plastic free.
It took me quite a few years to perfect my zero waste beauty routine, a lot of trial and error and patience. Mainly because one size doesn’t fit all with skincare or zero waste living for that matter. You need to do your research, try out some products and keep going until you find things that work for you.
I was recently contacted by a company called Sintra Naturals who make some amazing plastic free skincare products so I’m going to share my thoughts about the products with you as finding skincare products that tick all of my boxes (natural, eco-friendly- zero waste & plastic free) can be hard to find.
Sintra Naturals: Zero Waste & Plastic Free Skincare
Sintra Naturals is a sustainable beauty company who make 100% palm oil-free natural, plastic free skincare products with organic ingredients.
They sell products ranging from soaps to body butters. The founder of the company kindly sent me a gift box with a selection of different products to try. I always like to test out the products before I write about them.
Plastic Free Soap
If I had to recommend one zero waste and plastic free skincare product for your bathroom it would be soap. It’s package free, easy to use and travel friendly. It also tends to be much cheaper than shower gels and, with correct care, lasts a lot longer. I love a good soap!
All of Sintra Naturals soaps are made from natural eco-friendly ingredients. They have six different soaps to choose from…
Lavender Skin Food
Rose Skin Food
Match Green Purity
Salt Spa Bar
Charcoal Deep Cleanse
Skin Saviour
I received the charcoal, rose and the salt spa bar all of which smell amazing and leave my skin feeling smooth and hydrated. I always use natural soaps for washing as they are good for my skin and zero waste.
These soaps are also very reasonably priced at just £3 per bar.
As an example of the ingredients in the soap bars the charcoal deep cleanse bar contains:
Shea Butter
Olive Oil
Coconut Oil
Coconut Milk
Dried Peppermint
Charcoal Powder
I love these soaps and would definitely recommend them.
Luxury Body Butter Bars
These lovely body butter bars arrive in a reusable tin which is perfect for storing your bars. When you need to buy another you can then just buy a refill bar and keep reusing the same tin, making them the perfect plastic free skincare product.
Ingredients:
Cocoa Butter
Candelilla Wax
Grape Seed Oil
Vitamin E
Peppermint Essential Oil
Lavender Essential Oil
The bars leave your skin feeling silky smooth and thoroughly moisturised. They also smell lovely!
Soothing Cleansing Balm
The soothing cleansing balm is perfect for calming your skin, especially if you’ve been in the sun (or so I found). Shea butter is great for restoring your skin after a day of wearing makeup. Castor oil is perfect for pulling impurities from your skin and kaolin clay helps to rectify any environmental damage to your skin.
Ingredients:
Shea Butter
Organic Castor Oil
Organic Coconut Oil
Vitamin E
Kaolin Clay
Tea Tree Essential Oil
Chamomile Essential Oil
The best way to use this cleansing balm is to warm the balm in your hands first and then massage it into your skin. When you’re finished simply wipe your face clean with a warm damp cloth. I use my reusable bamboo makeup wipes which I love!
Organic Vegan Lip Balm
Another product I was sent was the organic vegan lip balm which comes in a little glass jar which can be either reused or recycled.
Ingredients:
Cocoa Butter
Sweet Almond Oil
Candelilla Wax
The cocoa butter moisturises your lips whilst also providing a protective barrier. The sweet almond oil is a fast and effective solution for chapped lips.
Zero Waste Vegan Dish Wash Paste
The last product I was sent from Sintra Naturals wasn’t a skincare product but a zero waste vegan dish wash paste which is something I haven’t come across yet on my zero waste journey. I normally use my refillable washing up liquid which I get from our local health food store or I use the dishwashing bar both of which work well so I was intrigued to try out the paste.
First impressions it smells amazing! So much so that at first I thought it was another body butter product until I read the label. Although this product is labelled as a dishwashing paste it’s actually multi-use and can be used to clean your stovetop and your bathroom. It’s made from plant-based ingredients and is very gentle on your skin but tough on dirt and grease.
Ingredients:
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate
Sodium Cocoate
Vinegar
Baking Soda
Distilled Water
Lemon Essential Oil
In case you don’t already know vinegar and baking soda are great for cleaning. In fact, my homemade cleaners are made from both of those ingredients as well as lemon essential oil.
This dish washing paste arrives in a reusable or recyclable glass jar making it a great zero waste kitchen product.
How To Use:
To use this dish washing paste put a bit onto your wooden dish brush or compostable dish cloth and run it under the water in the sink. Then wash the pots and pans and use more paste when required. It works really well and makes washing up slightly more enjoyable as it smells nice and you know it’s not causing your skin any harm.
My Thoughts…
In summary I’m really impressed with all of the products I received. One thing that stood out in particular were the prices as in the past I have found natural or eco-friendly products to be really expensive which has put me off buying them. The Sintra Naturals products are all very reasonably priced. I also love the fact that there isn’t any plastic packaging which is a real bug bear of mine.
Another big plus for me is the fact that each product only has a limited amount of ingredients in. I’m not a fan of products with huge ingredients lists, the simpler the better for me and of course no nasty chemicals.
One thing I haven’t mentioned above is that they also do gift boxes which would make a lovely plastic free present for loved ones. You can find their full range of products on their website here. You can also find them on Facebook and Instagram. If you like what you’ve seen go and check them out.
