Brewers Fayre Review – Paignton

I was recently invited along to try out the new Autumn menu at our local Brewers Fayre in Paignton. I have been to Brewers Fayre’s before when we lived in Kent but not since we have lived in Devon so I was keen to check out what they had to offer.

Environment, Atmosphere & Decor

This particular Brewers Fayre is called the Inn on the Quay and it really is set in a fantastic location right on the water’s edge.

When we first walked in we were a little confused as to where to go as it is a really big place but we got there in the end. From a customer’s journey point of view it would of been good to have a sign saying this way perhaps?

I was pleased to be lead into what I would call a garden room which had big glass windows along one side so we could see the view out to sea. The decor was a little dated in places but not out of place for a seaside venue.

From a family point of view they also have a free indoor soft play area which is great for the little ones. There are tables next to it so you can sit in peace while your kiddies play. I believe that most if not all of the Brewers Fayre’s have this so might be worth checking out your local one.

Menus

The menu was reasonably priced and has a good range of different options. I was particularly impressed with their daytime value menu which is very good value for money. You can get two starters for only £2.50, two mains for £10.99 and two desserts for £2.50! Perfect for a thrifty lunch out for two.

They also have a variety of offers menus for different days of the week like this Pizza Parlour offer on a Monday where kids eat for only £1.

Food

For a starter we both had the King Prawns served with a sweet chilli dip. This dish cost £4.99 and it was very tasty. The batter tasted really fresh too.

For a main I had the New Yorker burger – ‘Just like the city it shares it’s name with. this burger’s a bit of a big deal. A beef burger topped with streaky bacon, melted cheese and our own special burger sauce, served with crunchy coleslaw and chips’. It cost £9.99.

My friend had the smothered chicken – ‘A Brewers Fayre favourite! Grilled chicken breast topped with bacon and melted cheddar cheese. Served with chips, coleslaw, garlic bread, a lightly dressed salad garnish and BBQ sauce’.

For dessert I had the Warm Chocolate Brownie – ‘An unbeatable chocolate brownie, this comes with vanilla flavour ice cream and a generous drizzle of toffee fudge and chocolate flavour sauce’. It costs £3.49.

My friend had the Oreo Cookie Pie – ‘A dessert set to delight. Enjoy this chocolate pastry tart filled with a layer of rich caramel, topped with toffee mousse and finished with butterscotch and everyone’s favourite Oreo cookies. Served with squirty cream’. It cost £4.49.
