After what seems like an endless winter it appears that Summer has finally arrived here in Devon. I can already feel my vitamin D levels rising.
On Sunday we had a lovely day in the sun down at our families farm in Cornwall. It was a hot, fun-filled day and the kiddies had a whale of a time roaming around the farm and getting up to mischief.
They got to experience things that they wouldn’t normally, like cuddling a chicken…
and taking it for a ride…
and riding a motorbike!! (Much to mummies disgust)
Then after all the excitement, it was time to cool down in the shade with an ice cream…
By the time it came to go home they were covered from head to toe in mud, dust, straw and ice cream but they’d had a lovely day…
and there were only a few tears of protest about not wanting to go home before they both fell asleep…
So what about you then? How have you been enjoying the last week or so of the beautiful sun?

Looks like a perfect day for the children. How perfect to have the family living down here. Which part of Cornwall are they? If it is close to us you could always pop in and say Hi next time. A lovely post for Country Kids and one I think the children will want to repeat!
The farm is in St Mellion, near Callington. We are only 20 minutes away from there in Devon which is great. We’d love to pop in some time x
Oh haha love the pics of your kiddies not wanting to go bless, and how did he catch a chicken WOW he must be fast needless to say taking it for a ride haha
The chickens are use to it I think. The kids just wander around with them under their arms, it’s lovely x
That chicken is huge! Love the photos.
Thanks. It was quite big!
Sadly my son is now 16. All he wants to do is kill Nazi Zombies on his X-Box. And eat. Preferably finger foods while killing Nazi Zombies on the X-Box. I have very fond memories of the pre X-Box days, though, when trips to local petting farms or zoos or even the park or a walk in the woods were little adventures. Make hay while the sun shines, and if you get to cuddle a chicken or ride on a motorbike along the way too GO FOR IT! Lovely pics 🙂
We haven’t got to that stage yet but I fear it won’t be long! Gonna make the most of it while I can
Oh yes, I know how mucky they are when they get back from the farm. My FIL is a dairy farmer
They were covered from head to toe bless them. Turned my bath black!
I can’t believe how tame that chicken is! Looks like a great (and very hot!) time was had by all 🙂 Thanks for linking to #oldiesbutgoodies
I love the picture of the hen having a ride – funny! Why is it that at that age fun = mud!
