I like to make the most of Autumn as it always seems to fly by so fast. This year I was on a mission to find a pumpkin patch in Devon to partake in some pumpkin picking. Being a big farming area you’d think this would be an easy task, it wasn’t. After hours of Google searching I still couldn’t find anywhere and had started to give up hope until someone suggested Lifton Farm Shop.
Lifton Farm Shop Pumpkin Fest
“Through the passion and dedication of the Mounce family and our amazing team we create home produced products from our core farming activities.”
Lifton Farm Shop can be found just off the A30 right on the border of Devon and Cornwall near Launceston. It took us around 50 minutes to get there but it was well worth the drive. According to my other half they make the best pasties in Devon!
At the farm they have a farm shop, restaurant and play park. They also cater for conferences and functions including weddings. They won the gold award for Taste of the West 2016.
Each Autumn they hold a pumpkin fest with pumpkin carving, free family magic shows, free tractor & trailer rides, pumpkin games and all sorts of fun activities. They also hold a grand finale at the end of the week with a fireworks display.
Pumpkin Picking in Devon
They had two areas for picking pumpkins, the big field that was full of them or the actual patch up by the greenhouses. Grab yourself a wheelbarrow and get picking. Once you have chosen your pumpkin head over to the measuring table to check the price.
As well as the pumpkin picking there was plenty of over things to do including pumpkin carving and a bouncy castle. The kiddies were particularly taken with the giant minion hay bales.
We had a lovely time at the farm and we’ll definitely be going back next year.
